Tryout Overview
Tryouts for the University of Vermont men's ice hockey club begin during the first week of fall semester classes. If you are interested in becoming a member of the UVM club team, please read and understand the information below.
- One must be enrolled as a full-time, degree-seeking student at the University of Vermont. Undergraduate students must be taking a minimum of NINE (9) credit hours per semester. Graduate students must be taking a minimum of SIX (6) credit hours per semester.
- UVM Continuing Education/part-time students cannot be considered for the roster, nor can students from nearby universities such as Champlain College, St. Michael's College, Community College of Vermont, and Vermont Technical College.
- One must have a cumulative UVM GPA of 2.0 or higher. This does not apply to incoming freshmen (only UVM GPA counts).
- One must attend ALL of the tryout skates held in September. Please arrive on campus with all of your equipment.
- One must fill out the tryout questionnaire (attached below) and bring it to the first tryout skate.
- One must fill out and sign the UVM Club Sports waiver (attached below) and bring it to the first tryout skate.
- One must be able to pay the $20.00 tryout fee in cash.
2021-22 Tryouts
2021-22 tryouts will take place during the second week of classes. All prospective players are expected to be on time for each of the four tryout skates. Check-in will begin around 7:00pm on Fri 9/10; please arrive at Gutterson Fieldhouse through the main arena entrance with the $20 cash tryout fee, a completed tryout questionnaire, and signed waiver. Cuts will take place after each tryout session until the final roster has been selected. Players who tryout must be wearing full collegiate-level equipment, which means a full cage or bubble; players with "half shields" or no facial protection will not be permitted to skate. The schedule for 2021-22 tryouts is as follows:
Tryout Skate #1: Fri 9/10, 8:00-9:00 PM at Gutterson Fieldhouse
Tryout Skate #2: Sat 9/11, 8:00-9:00 PM at Gutterson Fieldhouse
Tryout Skate #3: Sun 9/12, 8:00-9:00 PM at Gutterson Fieldhouse
Players who are chosen for the team must provide mandatory player dues within the week following tryouts. There is a mandatory team meeting, during which equipment will be distributed, after the roster has been finalized and team practices begin the next week.
